Senator Johnson Comes Out Against Ban

Senator Tim Johnson is coming out against the abortion ban and has taped an automated phone message that urges voters to reject it this November.
South Dakota’s senior senator said the proposed ban on most abortions should be dumped because it contains no exceptions for women who have been victims of rape or incest.
Hey…we’re watching the SD race closely and I’m most intrigued by the fact that the legislature felt it necessary to include language allowing people to use contracpetion. Fellow blogger Tyler LePard attended a pro-life conference last weekend in Chicago entitled CONTRACEPTION IS NOT THE ANSWER and we are doing a series on this issue, the emergence of an attack on contracpetion by the far right, this week and next on our site.
Its crazy to think that we can reduce abortion and encourage people to be responsible with respect to prevention of disease AND move toward a prohibition of contraception as they are now incrasingly advocating. Great work on the site and good luck this fall …. we’re all watching!
